The ruling Patriotic Front-PF-has suffered a massive blow ahead of the August 12 polls as its entire Senga Hill District Committee has defected to the opposition United Party for National Development-UPND.
The Ambassadors for Change led by Senga Hill District Committee Chairman, Mr Jerry Simwinga were welcomed to the party by UPND Lusaka Province Women’s Wing deputy Chairperson, Angela Muuka.
Mr Simwinga cited lack of unity and poor leadership in the PF as the reason for ditching the troubled party.
He stated that the internal turbulence in the ruling party had weighed heavily on him and his committee, prompting the decision.
“I and others have left PF because there is no unity and love there. It’s all lies and lies, majority of us are suffering so we are following HH because he proved his commitment to bailing us out of poverty.
We have a lot of other people in the PF who want to join UPND, just wait and see,” he said.
Mr Simwinga didn’t fall short of praising newly adopted UPND 2021 Parliamentary candidate, Henry Sikazwe, who described as a
“I worked with Mr Henry Sikazwe before he left the PF to join the UPND. Am also calling upon all people of Senga Hill to emulate Mr Sikazwe in pushing the agenda for a better Zambia forward,” said Simwinga.
And welcoming the 24- member Committee, Ms Muuke stated that the UPND had enough room for every Zambian.
“We welcome you to the party whose leader has a heart for the people of Zambia. UPND has many rooms and you are all welcome,” he said.
